What is the Mojave River Watershed Bank?
The Mojave River Watershed Mitigation Bank is authorized by the Army Corps of Engineers, Lahonton Regional Water Quality Control Board, Region 6 California Department of Fish and Wildlife, and EPA. It offers Waters of the U.S. and Waters of the State credits for Desert Ephemeral Wash and Desert Playa Lakebed impacts, and can satisfy 401, 404, and 1600 permits for these.
The primary Service Area for the bank is the Mojave River Watershed, but also includes vast areas beyond this, including CDFW Region 5’s Antelope Valley and other large areas of the California Mojave Desert for RWQCB and CDFW permits. This bank may be used outside these service areas on a case by case basis, in consultation with the Agencies. It is the only bank in the Mojave Desert authorized to satisfy permits for Waters of the U.S..
